Public Workshops
Community Involvement
Everyone who lives, works, or owns property within the study area and persons within the metropolitan area or beyond with a direct or indirect business interest in KCI need to be involved in the planning for the future of KCI. A series of five meetings will be held over a period of twelve months to solicit community input regarding the three studies. You are cordially invited to attend as many of the meetings as possible. All meetings are free and open to the public. The schedule is outlined below.
Extensive public involvement will include:
- Close collaboration and coordination with a Technical Advisory Committee to include City, County and State staff.
- Public participatory process to include close involvement with a Planning Advisory Committee appointed by the Mayor comprised of area stakeholders
- Five public "town hall" type meetings to gather ideas, information, and concerns; identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats; present alternative concepts and collect feedback on those alternative concepts; and to present final recommendations for establishing consensus and reinforcing ownership of the plan.
Upcoming Meetings
Five (5) public workshops will be conducted at convenient locations throughout the study area. The workshops will be held in an informal “town hall” format late in the afternoon to early in the evening for a period of two to three hours. Each workshop will be advertised at least two weeks prior to the workshops.
