What factors were taken into the Airport forecast projection and how reliable are they?

Local and industry wide aviation/airline trends are taken into consideration when developing a reliable forecast of future passenger enplanements and aircraft operations at KCI.  In addition, the FAA’s Terminal Area Forecast is reviewed to determine its reasonableness and adjustments are made where necessary to reflect conditions that are specific to the KCI region.  These forecast projections are very reliable within the 5-10 year timeframe, and become more subjective in the out years.  This is why the aviation forecasts are reviewed and updated if necessary every 5 years to assure they are accurate and reflect current conditions and trends of the local KCI region and the aviation industry.
