KCIA Planning Studies

What will the Airport do to reduce the noise impacts?

At this point, the study evaluations have shown that there are no implementable changes in where aircraft fly that will result in a reduction of noise impacts over areas within the 60 DNL contours.  There are no noise sensitive uses (residences or other) that qualify for sound insulation programs, so no such program is foreseen for the airport.  Consequently, the focus of noise abatement planning at KCI is on the management of the future development of land to prevent or minimize the introduction of new incompatible uses that are now or are expected to remain within the higher noise levels around the facility.
